About Canadian Natural Canadian Natural Resources Limited is a senior independent oil and gas exploration, development and production company based in Calgary, Alberta. The company's operations are focused in Western Canada, the North Sea and offshore West Africa.Horizon Oil Sands Project In the Horizon Oil Sands Project, Canadian Natural owns and operates leases covering 236 thousand acres in the Fort McMurray region of northern Alberta. Drilling to date indicates an estimated 18 billion barrels of bitumen in place, with approximately 6 billion barrels being recoverable under existing mining technologies.We have developed a project execution strategy which phases in the production from the project over a five-year period. First oil is expected in 2008 at a production rate of 100 mbbls/d of synthetic light crude oil ("SCO"). The second phase of production is expected in 2010 with an incremental 45 mbbls/d of SCO. The third and final phase of development is expected in 2012 to bring total production to 233 mbbls/d of SCO.
