About Diavik Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. (DDMI), based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto plc of London, England.DDMI operates the Diavik Diamond Mine, located in Canada's remote North 300 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife. DDMI also managed mine construction on budget and ahead of schedule. Created in 1996, DDMI assumed project responsibility from Rio Tinto subsidiary Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. The Diavik Diamond Mine is an unincorporated joint venture between Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. (60%) and Aber Diamond Mines Ltd.
