Scope: ssist Canadian Natural Resources Limited in their support of a safe work environment, through the development and promotion of the Industrial Hygiene Program.
Key Area of Contribution: - Recommend effective control measures to mitigate risks via engineering, administration, or personal protective methods; - Critically evaluate environments, processes, materials inventories and worker demographics to recognize potential health risks to persons or communities; - Develop, implement and audit Occupational Hygiene and related programs; and - Coordinate Occupational Hygiene programs with related risk management efforts, including Safety, Environment and Medicine.
Specific Accountabilities: - Assess human exposures to hazards through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to determine health risks and regulatory compliance; - Assist in the interpretation of the Alberta OH&S Regulation and Code and other relevant Health Disciplines regulations; - Select and operate industrial hygiene testing equipment appropriate to the required analysis and/or supervise contractors conducting analysis; - Keep current on new ideas and techniques in the industrial hygiene field; - Act as the company representative for radiation safety and ensure the company is meeting all the requirements for radiation protection; - Conduct educational meetings to instruct employees in matters pertaining to occupational health and prevention of accidents; and - Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Qualifications for the Position: - A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene plus registration, or eligibility to be registered, as a Registered Occupational Hygienist or Certified Industrial Hygienist (a combination of education and experience would also be considered); - 5+ years experience in an industrial or construction environment; - Familiarity with industrial hygiene testing equipment, supplies, and personal protective equipment; - Knowledge of the Alberta OH&S Regulations and Codes, the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists Threshold Limit Values and Biological Exposure Indices, and other guidance and legislation pertaining to health in an industrial setting; - Previous experience with radiation safety and designation as a Radiation Safety Officer is preferred; and - Active involvement in industry associations would be a definite asset.

The position is based on our Horizon Site located 70km north of the town of Fort McMurray.
