Original BioWare-created IPs include Jade Empire and the critically acclaimed, Mass Effect. BioWare is hard at work on the epic fantasy RPG Dragon Age; Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the Nintendo DS; and unannounced projects including a highly anticipated massively multiplayer online game.

BioWare Edmonton seeks candidates for the position of Online Marketing Manager. This strategic function drives the vision, execution, and financial management of BioWare product sites, owns communication with internal clients and groups (Product Management, studio partners, legal, creative services,) and manages external relationships (such as partner agencies,) for BioWare?s online marketing and community initiatives. This role also contributes to BioWare?s overall strategic vision in the online space in the following manner:

- Focus on customer acquisition and conversion, and on developing and owning retention strategies that drive active community growth. Leverages research and past learnings to contribute new franchise, brand, or company-wide online marketing initiatives.

- This individual also contributes to online best practices and standards, and is responsible for staying current with online marketing trends, evaluating online technologies and programs, and recommending how and when to best take advantage of them.

- Provide cross-functional leadership to marketing, development, and production teams.

- Ensure that the user experience is world-class.

Responsibilities include:

Online Strategy:

Complete integration of the games, e-Store, and community sites (aka "the Orb")
- Manage the implementation of innovative, creative and effective marketing programs within budgetary guidelines, including;
Aggressively focus on Orb-growing opportunities
- Be the Champion and soul of the online marketing channel. Provide marketing and implementation plans for the channel to support the PR, Community and web efforts in hyping and launching products to market.
- Ensure the end to end user experience of the BioWare online channel is world class.
- Develop and ultimately manage the E-Channel P&L. Supporting activities to include long-term e-store SKU planning, management of product forecasts for new launches.

Proactively and strategically manage all inputs and outputs of the Orb

- Implement metrics that are relevant to the online channel
- Ensure that there is a risk management strategy in place for all activities, including information privacy policies and practices.
- Produce dynamic, customer-centric and community-focused marketing initiatives for BioWare games and associated projects, executing them in a timely fashion according to best-in-industry standards.

Site strategy and online marketing production kick-off

- Act as first point of contact for Product Marketing for online sites
- Initiate and lead online kick-off (w/ product manager, community mgr, design lead, studio parters); understand overall marketing campaign, positioning statement, product marketing plan.
- Primary representative in Campaign Management Process
- Primary point of contact for design and development partner agency

PRODUCE SITE/ONLINE MARKETING EFFORTS (PRE-SHIP):
- Leads agency partnership on a product/franchise level
- Obtains and tracks assets from PM/studio team, hand-off assets to online production team; works with agency project manager to ensure on-time delivery of Web site/Launch e-mail, and/or pro-actively balance timelines and priorities as necessary to accommodate for changing ship dates, missing assets, etc.
- Ensures that greater Marketing context and marketing ?beats.? (PR Landscape, ?X? insight, live events, and non-online marketing campaigns) are represented in the Project Director(s) & Community Manager?s community and content plans.

POST SHIP:
- Monitors community health, supports Project Director(s) & Community Manager initiatives and programming.
- Supports post-ship opportunities around digital downloads and incremental revenue through additional marketing & content development.
- Completes strategic evaluation of site via post-mortem, to be shared internally and externally
- Feeds community activity back out to partners in Marcom/PR, and studio

Requirements:
- 5+ years experience working in some combination of new media, online, or traditional media fields.
- 1-4 years producer experience in some combination of print, web, multimedia, or traditional marketing.
- Bachelor?s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equiv. experience).
- Good understanding of the evolution of online marketing technologies and strategies; understands marketing, and the importance of online community relationships (all key skills important)
- An acute sense of lifestyle trends, media savvy, pop culture hit lists and brand marketing.
- Must have active product and industry knowledge, and actively study competitive landscape
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong judgment and problem solving skills.
- Strong understanding of broader entertainment industry; games, music, and movies etc.
- Demonstrates an expertise in MS Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. MS Project, or experience with equiv. planning software is a plus, but not required
