BioWare is seeking for immediate hire a Senior Level Designer candidate to help development on new ground-breaking roleplaying games. This is a position to design and create levels in our games.
Duties
Primary Tasks:
*Translate game concepts into specific playable levels.
*Work closely with 3D Artists and Technical Designers to design and create game levels.
*Work with all members of the production team to execute level designs and work through level design revisions as needed.
Secondary Tasks:
*Script dialogue and in-game events.
*Set up and populate game levels. Update documentation that details the level design in the game.
Education
*Minimum education (preferred but not mandatory): Two to four year degree or diploma, or equivalent experience.
*Preferred: Diploma in 3D game art implementation.
Experience
*6+ years of professional game level design experience
*2+ published AAA games containing applicant's level designs
Skill Set
*Must have practical 3D level building experience
*Applicant must have completed level building projects
*Must be able to communicate effectively with artists and programmers
*Experience with a commercial level editor
*3D Studio Max experience is a benefit but not necessary
*Must have good scripting and commenting skills
*Familiarity with the fantasy and science fiction genre and role-playing games is preferred
Optional Submission
A sample that contains the following items:
A unique, playable, fun and fully scripted level, designed by the applicant, using a currently available game toolset. This level should have no more than 15 minutes of gameplay built into it.
Additionally, the applicant should submit files of 3D levels/maps that can be copy and pasted into a current, popular game (note: this game does not have to be the same one used in submission requirement #1, above). Ensure that these files are labeled in such a way that it is immediately apparent which game they can be loaded into.
Finally, include several jpeg screenshots of your levels/maps.
