POSITION SUMMARY

Scope:
?Focused on the safety and security of people and assets, our respected Security Specialist will have the opportunity to deliver and execute a security plan to ensure the protection of the Horizon Oil Sands Project.

Key Area of Contribution:
?Establish and maintain security guidelines/ procedures/ post orders used by the security services group and contracted resources; and
?Develop and/or oversee the implementation of security related programs including site wide access control, portable access control technologies, video systems, mechanical key control, covert video deployment;

Specific Accountabilities:
?Develop and implement notification/investigation/reporting processes and procedures for security incidents;
?Response to security related calls including directing the activities of security services resources as a situation dictates;
?Key member of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) team responsible for mobilizing and directing the security services group and working with other EOC members to support incidents;
?Establish and/or maintain ongoing relationships with Provincial Authorities, the Local Authorities - RCMP, Alberta Natural Resources (Wildlife & Forestry), First Nations and Mtis communities and the Regional Security Group;
?Liaise with third party contractors and security systems integrators to satisfy project access control and video requirements;
?Maintain a current portfolio of documentation for the system installations;
?Identify, evaluate and recommend the acquisition of equipment required by the security services group;
?Assist with the staffing, ongoing administration and scheduling of the security services group and contracted resources;
?Identify required training needs for the security services group;
?Assist in developing of/and recommendations for annual operations budget for security services group. Monitor and control expenditures;
?Provide regular reports and/or statistics on security services group activities;
?Establish ongoing guidelines and reporting procedures for contractors coming to site;
?Managing confidential correspondence and conducting investigations; and
?Maintain a current inventory of security equipment and spare parts.

Qualifications for the Position
Education and Experience:
?Related post-secondary education;
?15+ years of security/law enforcement experience in a leadership or senior coordinating role within a large industrial setting, preferably with exposure to the oil and gas industry;
?A good understanding of the physical security planning and principals;
?Posses good technical knowledge of electronic access control, CCTV systems and their application;
?A valid Alberta Drivers license is required;
?Registration or eligibility for registration as a Certified Security Officer or equivalent is required; and
?Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation would be desirable.
