The successful candidate will work within a multi-discipline team to develop Canadian Natural’s Oil Sands Leases which is targeting 300,000 bbl/d thermal production by 2020. Reporting to the Manager, Production the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop new subsurface well designs for CSS and SAGD operations (casing/connection selection, cementing programs);
Develop, justify, and execute casing integrity programs;
Develop, justify, and implement formation integrity monitoring programs;
Collaborate within a multi-discipline team to acquire, analyze, and identify trends and/or cause/effect relationships on current well designs;
Develop, coordinate, and maintain a database of supporting well data;
Ensure designs and programs follow industry best practices; Develop, justify, and ensure “new learnings” are incorporated into new wells;
Participate in industry collaborations of shared learnings, and best practices of well designs;
Research, develop, and ensure industry best practices are incorporated into well kill procedures;
Stewardship of a well kill manual and equipment; and
Provide mentorship to junior production engineers.
Our ideal candidate will possess a B.Sc in Engineering with a minimum of five years of experience in Thermal operations. This role will appeal to individuals who enjoy applying their strong analytical capabilities to complex technical issues. Proven knowledge of CSS and/or SAGD well design and production operations is required; experience in economic evaluations is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and team leadership skills, complemented with a strong work ethic are also required.
