The Crown Royalty Analyst will analyze the upcoming and ongoing changes to the Provincial Crown royalty regime and report the impact of the changes as they relate to Canadian Natural. This position will also include providing a liaison role between Provincial regulatory agencies and Canadian Natural along with the preparation of internal monthly royalty reporting.
Qualified candidates should posses a post-secondary education and a minimum of 3 to 5 years in a production accounting environment. Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications (Excel) is required. Knowledge of EnterpriseOne (formerly JDEdwards) and PRISM applications will be considered an asset. This position also requires strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Interpersonal communication and organizational skills within a team environment will increase effectiveness. Enthusiasm, a strong work ethic and desire to learn are essential.
Reporting to the Manager, PA & Royalty Compliance, the Analyst’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Acquire and maintain a solid understanding of all Provincial Crown royalty regimes and stay up to date with changes as they occur; •Prepare and maintain Crown royalty models to calculate the impact of changes as they relate to Canadian Natural; •Maintain a process to verify the actual Crown charges; •Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all Provincial royalty departments; •Provide monthly royalty forecasting; •Assist in maximizing Canadian Natural’s economic exposure by identifying opportunities to minimize Crown royalties; •Assist in Crown royalty reporting and account reconciliation as required; and •Perform special projects, as required.
