Business OverviewNear Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta, Suncor Energy Inc. Oilsands Operation recovers bitumen from oil sands and upgrades it to refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel.Construction is underway for the next phase of oil sands growth, which is expected to deliver production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day in 2008, growing in stages to a goal of up to 550,000 barrels per day in 2010 to 2012 and growth is not expected to stop there. Expansion and opportunity are words you hear often at Suncor.Our growth = significant career opportunity for youPosition Outline:The Administrative Assistant will provide effective administrative support to the team area.Key Accountabilities:Reporting to theVice President of Mining Operations, this person will provide senior level administrative support to the Vice President of Mining, balancing a demanding work load, while exercising mature judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information pertaining to Suncor business. The successful applicant will respond to requests and inquiries from internal and external sources and develop and maintain excellent relations with Suncor and external personnel at all levels. This person will provide leadership and guidance to administrative assistants to ensure consistent communication/information flow throughout the team. The successful applicant will perform a wide variety of administrative duties, including, but not limited to:
• Calendar management for VP internal and external meetings, conference calls and other events, taking into account frequent changes and other reprioritization; ensuring all changes are seamlessly integrated
• Coordination of various monthly, weekly, routine, and ad hoc meetings
• Maintenance of follow-up files/logs to track upcoming deadlines, etc.
• Scheduling and tracking of stewardship and loss management activities
• Preparation of correspondence and reports/presentations
• Assisting with tracking of costs and contracts and preparation of budgets and forecasts
• Coordination of travel arrangements
• Coordination of administrative matters and departmental activities/events
• Coordination and preparation of presentations and agendas for executive meetingsQualification Requirements:• Post secondary education with a minimum of 5-8 years’ administrative experience at a senior level
• Well-organized, with solid priority management skills
• Flexible self-starter who works well with little supervision and has strong ownership for the work
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Mature judgment, diplomacy, and discretion in the frequent handling of sensitive material
