POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Credit Analysts will assist the Manager, Credit Risk Management with managing credit risk associated with the marketing and trading business within SEMI. The role provides information on the financial wherewithal of the counterparties we are current executing deals along with daily exposure reporting. The position makes recommendations on credit limits to the Credit Manager.Description of Accountability• Coordinating any Suncor Energy wide credit exposure issues with the other credit individuals within Suncor to be presented at the quarterly credit committee meetings.
• Work closely with credit analysts in other Suncor business units to ensure that decisions on credit lines and collateral are consistent across the organization.
• Ensure that the parental guarantees are issued and retain copies of issued and received.
• Work on major credit issues assigned by the Manager, Credit Risk, identify major credit issues and act as the credit expert with Corporate and/or other business areas within Suncor.
• Measure, Monitor and Mitigate our credit risk for Crude, Natural Gas, Diesel, Sulphur and Financial Trading & Hedging
• Help oversee credit risk of over $2 billion net on 60 days of credit exposure. This would include Crude, Natural Gas, Diesel, Sulphur and Trading & Hedging
• Manager their portfolio of the over 400 counterparty files. Review the files and make recommendations on credit limits and ensure that the recommended limits are within our Credit Policy limits.• Building strong relationships with the Natural Gas, Crude, Diesel and Trading Teams and ensure that our Policies, Procedures and approved counterparties are sufficient for them to meet their business requirements.
• Negotiate credit language in contracts to ensure we have adequate assurance that the obligations of our customers and counterparties will be met. Review our ISDAs, Physical Gas Contracts (GASEDI and NAESB), Crude GT&Cs, Diesel GT&Cs, and other Master Agreements.• Monitor day-to-day credit events in the market place and ensure that these events will not adversely affect Suncor.• Ensure that a monthly stewardship report is completed and accurate to be reviewed by Manager, Credit Risk• Manage and update our Risk Systems and Credit Systems.
• Work closely with the Manager, Credit Risk on the development of credit reporting tools and reports.
• Maintain a strong network of Credit Professionals and Corporate Finance Professionals in the North American Energy Industry.• Recommend credit limits and transactions as outlined in the Credit Policy.
• Work with the business to come up with creative solutions when a counterparty does not qualify for unsecured credit.
• Analysis of complex financial statements that cover a wide spectrum of industries.Education and Experience• Bachelor of Commerce Degree or related education.
• Five to ten years credit experience
Working Conditions:• Strong quantitative and decision making skills required. Many decisions are made easier based on strong knowledge of the credit business and understanding of the commodity trading business.• Knowledge of energy industry, strong knowledge of credit risk management, strong industry network with both credit and risk professionals and traders and marketers.
