POSITION SUMMARY
Animation Software Engineer
Black Box

Position Overview

An Animation Software Engineer is a part of the game creation process, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms?working on complex problems with Designers, Animators and other Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
? Write technical design specifications.
? Design, maintain, implement, test and debug code.
? Create tools, features and engine components to required coding standards.
? Profiling and optimizing software components of a game.
? Create leading edge reusable technologies, both systems and engines if required.
? Test, debug, and extend other Software Engineer's code competently.
? Applied research of cutting-edge algorithms and techniques.

Required Technical Skills and Experience
? Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
? Proficiency with C++ (Visual C++ or Visual .NET recommended).
? Experience in object-oriented design and implementation.
? Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices.
? Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimization.
? Strong math skills including trigonometry, calculus and linear algebra (Quaternions, Matrix Transformations)
? Ability to apply physics knowledge of Forces, Speed & Acceleration, Trajectories.
? Demonstrated aesthetic eye, understanding of gameplay and attention to detail

Additional Skills:

? Prior experience shipping a console (i.e. PS2, GameCube or Xbox) or handheld (i.e. Nintendo Gameboy/DS or Sony PSP) product.
? Experience with assembler (MIPS, VU Code), scripting languages (Perl, Python, Lua) and C#.
? Experience with graphics tools such as Maya, MotionBuilder and Photoshop.
? Masters or PhD Degree in Computer Science or related field.
? Experience with Disney 12 Principals of Animation
? Skilled in one of the following: Skinning, Skeleton and Character rigging, Posting, Blending and Sequencing, Inverse Kinematics, Physics for Animation, Math for Animation, Motion Capture, Animation Pipelines, Animating Articulated Figures, Facial Animation
? Expertise in some or all of: Keyframing, Interpolations, Parameter Curve editing, Forward Kinematics, Motion Paths, Camera Animation, Pose-Based Animation, Cycles, Types (procedural, representational, stochastic and behavioural), Mirroring constraints, Channel Animations, Tagging and its semantic
