Description of AccountabilityReporting to the Emergency Services Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is accountable for the scheduling and conducting, according to department and government standards, effective service and repair work to all portable fire protection equipment including 150/350 lb Dry Chemical units, hand portable fire extinguishers, fire hose and various fire fighting appliances.The Maintenance Technician shall also ensure the service, maintenance and overhaul of all Respiratory Protective Equipment currently used on Suncor Energy’s site meets all manufactures, government and department standards.Assistance with training courses at the Fire Training Facility, which includes performing maintenance on fire appliances used for training, and fulfilling required operational duties when necessary.Specific Responsibilities:Ensure that all hand portables and 150/350 lb Dry Chemical wheeled and stationary units on plant site are in a state of readiness at all times, by scheduling and conducting the annual service tests and repairs, according to N.F.P.A and manufactures standards.Ensure the reliability of all fire hose on plant site by scheduling and conducting annual testing and maintenance to meet N.F.P.A standards.Ensure the reliability of all fire fighting appliances including foam carts, stationary and wheeled monitors, hose carts, and nozzles, by conducting effective service and repairs when required.Ensuring that all Respiratory Protective Equipment is kept in a state of readiness by performing regular service, maintenance and overhaul in accordance with all department and government standards.Provide support to ESD shift personnel at the Fire Training Grounds during training courses, and also provide support when requested by the Emergency Coordinator to drive the ambulance.Provide support to the ESD Training Coordinators to assist in ensuring that all training equipment is maintained.Experience and Education Requirements• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.• Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR level C is a minimum.• Maintenance of LTA-101 fire suppression systems, portable firefighting equipment and SCBA is preferred.• Good communication skills are essential.• Valid Class 4 Driver's License would be an asset.
