Oilsands Operation recovers bitumen from oil sands and upgrades it to refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel.Construction is underway for the next phase of oil sands growth, which is expected to deliver production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day in 2008, growing in stages to a goal of up to 550,000 barrels per day in 2010 to 2012 and growth is not expected to stop there. Expansion and opportunity are words you hear often at Suncor.Position Outline:Reporting to the Geotechnical Performance Engineer, the Environmental Technologist is responsible for the monitoring and function of groundwater and surface water networks which extend over the large areas of Suncor's Oil Sands operations.Key Accountabilities:Monitoring and sampling of network assetsManaging environmental equipmentOrdering of suppliesCoordinating offsite lab workData management of Environmental GIS systemQualification Requirements:A Technicial diploma in Environmental Science or related fieldA member of ASET or eligible for membershipA minimum of 5 years environmental monitoringMust be willing to learn and be a key contributor in a dynamic teamMust have excellent communication skills both written and verbalMust have a valid drivers licenceWorking Conditions:This postion is a shift position located in the operating mine at Oil Sands.
