Description of AccountabilitiesBased in Suncor’s Fort McMurray Pipeline Operations field office, this full-time permanent hourly position provides excellent exposure to many facets of pipeline operations and maintenance.Main Role
You are responsible for providing advanced pipeline maintenance and repair.Role SummaryThe Pipeline Facility Operator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining facility sites in the Firebag area with a focus on the technical aspects.General Duties:• Practice and enforce Suncor Codes, Standards and Practices
• Work within and support a “planned work environment”
• Operate and maintain gas compressor, gas metering and gas processing facilities
• Inspect equipment for malfunctions, perform minor repairs, and effectively optimize equipment.
• Complete equipment isolation, drain down and re-flooding of liquid pumping stations.
• Complete equipment isolation, blow-down, purge and re-pressurize natural gas facilities
• Work effectively with maintenance personal to maintain, repair and improve pipeline facilities.
• Travel and assist other work areas within business unit as required.
• Exercise mature and independent judgment in daily activities associated with operations
• Operate and maintain sampling systems
• Operate and maintain liquid hydrocarbon pump stations
• Operate and maintain gas line heaters and meter facilities• Provide general Housekeeping of all facilities and related equipment.
• Provides guidance to lesser-experienced operating and maintenance personnel
• Respond to customer inquiries• Monitor pipeline right of ways to identify potential encroachments.• Supervise third party service contractors as required
• Responsible for on call duties.
• Respond to pipeline emergencies
• Attend safety/operational meetings as well as Oil Spill and Emergency Response Exercises
• Indoctrinate and enforce health and safety rules for contractors
• Complete work orders and notifications using the SAP processes within specified timeframes.
• Collect oil/gas samples and deliver to the lab for testing
• Pigging of pipelines as required
• Supervise crews during pipeline excavations and repairsEducation and ExperienceTechnical Skills (essential):• Knowledge/skills in the following areas: Pipeline Operations Procedures, Policies & Practices and Oil Spill Response• In depth knowledge in safely starting, stopping, pressurizing and depressurizing hydrocarbon transmission facilities with Low Vapour Products, High Vapour Products, and natural gas.• Knowledgeable in gas quality including dew point and gas sampling
• Strong knowledge and practice of environmental, health and safety standards.
• Effectively communicate and work within a team environment.
• Proven mechanical aptitude and understanding with experience around operating rotating equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
• 3-5 years experience with operating oil and gas facility'sTechnical Skills (Desirable):
• 10+ years practical experience in pipeline construction/maintenance
• Knowledge of pipeline hydraulics and experience operating Liquid hydrocarbon pipelines.
• Experience with SAP applications.
• Technical knowledge and experience with gas and liquid measurement.
• Technical training through Solis or equivalentFormal Education:
-Minimum requirement: high school diploma or equivalent-Two (2+) years post secondary (technical) desirableNote
This position is based in FMM at the Firebag site and is eligible for the "Fly In Fly Out" site assignment terms.
The work schedule for this position would be 7&7.
