POSITION SUMMARY

JOB SUMMARY:

An Safety Technician??s main objective is to ensure that workers in hazardous or dangerous areas are provided with service and equipment to maintain a safe work environment. The Technician is expected to read, understand and comply with HSE Integrated Safety Policies and Job Procedures as well as government laws and regulations. The Safety Technician reports to and takes direction from the Station Manager for the district in which he/she is working.


PREREQUISITES

? Previous oil field experience

? Familiar with the on site use of breathing apparatus' and supplied air trailers

? Clean Class 5 driver's license

? Valid H2S Alive and First Aid certifications are an asset.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

? Arrive for work well groomed, alert and on time (including shop days)

? Arrive for work at least 15 minutes early to allow sufficient time for handover from previous Safety Technician

? Communicate with client representative on day-to-day operation

? Provide safety support to client representative including any reasonable requests outside normal duties

? Maintain vehicles, shacks and work areas in clean, tidy and professional condition

? Provide complete and accurate handover information to relieving Safety Technician

? Maintain a mature and professional relationship with all personnel in the work area, co-workers and HSE Integrated supervisors and managers

? When living in a camp, obey all rules and regulations. Maintain a mature and professional attitude at all times

? Ensure training competency goals are met as laid out in ??Training and Competencies??

? Ensure that all pertinent paperwork is completed accurately, neatly and in a timely manner

? Understand the functions and maintenance of the equipment operating

? Report and communicate regularly to Operations on the following critical changes necessary that may directly affect operations (Emergency situations; accommodation check out; occurrences on the job site; additional personnel or equipment that may be required; changing locations and departure of locations)

? Maintain a daily journal of all activities directly related to the job

? Maintain a light duty kilometer/driver??s log

? Report all deficiencies to senior staff and/or direct supervisor
