Business OverviewNear Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta, Suncor Energy Inc. Oilsands Operation recovers bitumen from oil sands and upgrades it to refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel. Although located in Calgary, this position will support our Major Project & Growth Planning & Development Groups associated with the Fort McMurray Oil Sands operation.Construction is underway for the next phase of oil sands growth, which is expected to deliver production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day in 2008, growing in stages to a goal of up to 550,000 barrels per day in 2010 to 2012 and growth is not expected to stop there. Expansion and opportunity are words you hear often at Suncor.Our growth = significant career opportunity for youPosition Outline:The Logistics Planner (Projects) works with Major Projects and the GP&D (Growth Planning & Development) groups to ensure that Major Projects are turned over to Oil Sands with Material Master Data, two year spares, Commissioning & start up spares and capital spares in place to support the operation of a new plant.This function requires a working relationship with Major Projects, GP&D, Suncor's EPC houses, Procurement, Warehousing and PS&C (Plan, Schedule & Coordinate), Quality Assurance, stakeholders in Suncor's business units as well as other external contractors/vendors.Key Accountabilities:Reporting to the SCM Supervisor, Inventory Management, the Logistics Planner (Projects) is accountable for:
• Ensuring that material master data can be created and spares procured prior to the Commissioning & start up date for new plants
• Working with various Major Projects groups to understand the technical and risk aspects on new materials and ensure material can be made available as required by Maintenance & Reliability during the early operational life of the plant
• Providing normal day to day logistics support to the project organization until the plant is turned over to the Business Unit Logistics organizationQualification Requirements:The ideal candidate will:
• Be a dynamic individual with 3 plus years of logistics or projects planning experience.• Business/Supply Chain Degree or Supply Chain designations such as P.Log, CPP, CPIM, PMAC.• Ability to interact in a technical environment (Engineering environment) is desirable.
• Working knowledge of computerized Supply Chain management systems (Preferably SAP).
• Working knowledge of project planning / scheduling tools & techniques (Preferably SAP Project Management)• Computer application experience with Microsoft office products such as Word & Excel is essential.• Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills are a must.Working Conditions:Achieving world-class safety excellence is key to Suncor’s goal of becoming a sustainable energy company.
