Chief Estimator - Commercial

Chief Estimator
Under the guidance of the Estimating Department Manager or Area Vice President, the Chief Estimator will be the lead Estimator on bid proposals and final project estimates and provide direction and coaching to less experienced estimators.
General Responsibilities:
· Provides input into the Estimating Department’s business plans, strategies and system improvements.
· Participates in the project proposal teams and marketing, liaises with owners, clients and consultants on project estimates.
· Responsible for completing the entire tender proposal package submission including schedules, rates and lists to provide complete and compliant tender submission.
· Reviews and approves final tender submissions in conjunction with the General Manager or Construction Department Manager.
· Collaborates with Operations or Construction Manager to develop and implement the project execution plan.
· Supervises post-bid analysis, tracks bidding success and analyses fiscal bid performance.
· Schedules, assigns and directs the work of the Estimating staff. Supervises estimating staff, including performance reviews, training and coaching, compensation, selection and deslection.
· Implements Graham Estimating Toolbox system, processes and procedures. Ensures that estimators understand the company’s operating policies, procedures, systems and practices and apply them appropriately.
· Provides technical support to other departments, divisions and corporate expertise units.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications;
Education: A graduate of a four year engineering degree program or a technical school program in construction management or quantity surveying. CCA Gold Seal (Estimating) is an asset.
Experience: A minimum of ten to fifteen years of estimating and construction management experience with at least five years as a Chief Estimator for commercial projects.

· Excellent interpersonal, communications and advanced negotiating skills required.
· Strong planning, leadership and team building skills.
· The ability to make timely and rational decisions under pressure.
· A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.
