POSITION SUMMARY
Albian Sands As the newest oil sands company in more than 25 years, Albian Sands is a young, dynamic and growing company. Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands. Albian Sands is currently seeking an Inspector Team Lead, Expansion Operations
Responsibilities:

This position co-ordinates pressure equipment inspection activities and conducts inspection process quality control activities under Albian’s Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) program. The incumbent acts as the Chief Inspector under the Province of Alberta Safety Codes Act and ensures adherence to codes and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) regulations. Specifically, the incumbent: Is responsible for inspection activities and direction of inspection personnel. Reviews and makes revisions to the PEIM program when required and obtains approvals from the ASE Manager, Reliability & Inspection. Approves inspection plans, N.D.E., repair, pressure piping construction, safety valve servicing and special process contracts with respect to code and technical requirements. Maintain a database inventory of all pressure vessels, boilers and safety relief valves, including inspection and maintenance records. Acts as owner’s inspector for piping construction including Boiler External Piping and for owner/user program certified repairs. Monitors, audits and assesses contractor and vendor inspection activities. Makes recommendations as to the approval or disqualification of vendors and contractors based on findings. Monitors process conditions, and ensures that inspection requirements are adjusted as required to accommodate process changes. Recommends corrective actions as required. Designs, implements, maintains, and controls the issue of quality manuals, procedures, standards and other quality documents, including revisions. Drives risk based inspection activities on site Helps creating essential shutdown scope with regards to statutory overhaul & inspection requirements and repairs.


Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer. Mechanical Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma 5-10 years experience in pressure equipment inspection Experience with risk based inspection Having been a team lead is a pre for this position Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspector, Certified API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector, API 570 & API 653 certificates NDE related certificates Experience as a S/S inspector Written and Spoken English Have proven people skills Be able to convince Operations & Maintenance of the need to work on regulated equipment whilst production schedules would work in a different direction Being able to cope with a high level of challenge Have thorough knowledge of codes, standards and NDT techniques Have thorough knowledge of fitness for purpose assessments and repair options Be knowledgeable in the field of risk based inspection Be capable of writing concise and clear inspection reports Understanding of Process Engineering would be beneficial
