Reporting to the Lead Process Engineer, the Senior Process Engineer is a key member of the Firebag Program team.•Participating in and/or leading portions of front-end engineering design (scoping and DBM) of Firebag Major Projects
•Identification and evaluation of new technology
•Managing the interface requirements between existing Firebag facilities and new facilities in the design phase
•Providing support to and working with the Firebag business units operations and technology groups to identify, define and validate opportunities before engaging an EP project team for implementation.•Participating in Hazop and SIL reviews to ensure consistency of safety systems across the Firebag Projects
•Providing support and direction to the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams to meet Firebag Program StandardsExercises independent judgement consistent with corporate and business unit goals. Influences the thinking of others and provides broad guidance with respect to others decisions.Exercises mature business judgement, originality and ingenuity in devising practical, economical solutions.
Independence and mature judgement required. Must be able to adapt leading edge technologies and tools which have a high potential in improving the construction work processes.The candidate must have exceptional people skills and superior communication skills. Must be willing to take a project assignment in the future. Be able to gain the confidence of the Project Teams.Experience:Candidate will have a Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent with 8+ years design experience in oil refining or heavy oil process engineering. Experience in process simulation and piping and instrumentation diagram development is required. Experience in operations of a large plant, or in EPC, is an asset. Proven organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Must be a member, or eligible to become a member, of APEGGA.Position is located in Calgary, Alberta.
