Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands. Due to continued growth, Albian Sands is currently seeking experienced Reliability Engineers
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Reliability Team Lead, the Reliability Engineer will be an integral member of the Reliability Department, which consists of craftsmen, piping specialists, inspectors and other reliability engineers. This position works a compressed 40-hour week (four ten-hour days). Participate in the development of the Albian Sands site reliability plan Apply and share learning on Reliability practices improvements Identify and correct deficiencies within the plant and mine equipment maintenance schemes. Initiate and/or review plant changes with regard to reliability issues Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to operations, maintenance and process engineering Develop equipment inspection schedules and integrate them into JDEdwards (JDE) equipment maintenance module. Develop rotating equipment Planned Maintenance program and Reliability Centred Maintenance for pumps based on component wear rates and past failure history. Integrate rotating equipment PM with NDT inspection of critical wear components in slurry pumps Become familiar with all areas within the plant – focus primarily in froth treatment Participate in RCA and Incident Investigation Teams as requested as a participant or facilitator – can be in any area of the plant or mine Providing technical support for the Global Asset Management Excellence processes ( Reliability Centered Maintenance, Ensure Safe Production, Risk Based Inspection, and Instrument Protective Function and other work processes within GAME), and assist in the facilitation of the GAME implementation Obtaining equipment history from a variety of sources Identify new areas to work in where skills can be used Ability to develop systems from start to finish
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer. Engineering degree, P.Eng. Certification an asset. 3 Minimum number of years of related work experience required Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office environment Familiar with Microsoft Access – may be required to generate ad-hoc reports Experience with Visual Basic for Excel, PI process book, PI Excel Data Link and JDEdwards an asset.Understanding of Albian’s business processes & organizational structure Interpersonal and communication skills – ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with all levels and departments within the organization Good organizational skills (maintain files of supporting documentation) Ability to learn from others and adopt best practices Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing conditions Works well within interdisciplinary teams and independently Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and decision making skills Strong focus on safety, integrity and reliability
