As the newest oil sands company in more than 25 years, Albian Sands is a young, dynamic and growing company. Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands. Albian Sands is currently seeking a Civil Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Management of Change Coordinator, the Civil Engineer supports the preparation of Occupancy Permits for permanent and temporary buildings on Albian Site. Leading the permitting activities for Buildings at Albian Muskeg River Mine site according to the applicable Codes, Practices and Procedures. Preparing documentation to be submitted to regulatory agencies for permitting purpose. Guiding and controlling Surveying Contractor designated for drafting and survey layout of all the permanent and temporary buildings on Albian Muskeg River Site. Ensuring quality of deliverables such as Building Permit Application forms, drawings and other technical attachments for permits. Coordinating with other groups to ensure permits are issued on a timely fashion and issues are resolved expediently. Maintaining Master Plot Plan with building locations. Responsible for adhering to the business plan Applying site HSE policies and standards Tight timelines High level of detail required Ability to remain at a high level of analytical focus for extended periods of time. Remain goal oriented while managing multiple simultaneous tasks
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer. Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent 3-5 years experience in Residential/Commercial/Industrial Construction environment Good working knowledge of Alberta Building Code 1997 Proficiency with AutoCAD Valid Driver’s License Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work safely and efficiently within a team, as well as independently Attention to accuracy of information Ability to deal with all levels of the organization in a professional manner Strong organizational, time management, and coordinating skills Ability to show initiative, take ownership and balance ongoing demands Working conditions: Physical Effort: Field/Office position Physical Environment: Required to work indoors and outdoors
