We are seeking a motivated and safety oriented employee to fill the role of Surface Surveyor. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for providing survey control for the open pit mine through the accurate collection and reporting of survey information, the layout of designs, wall monitoring and reporting, updating of maps using mine design software and the layout and pickup of blast holes. Additional responsibilities include participating in daily production/safety meetings, contributing to the development of the daily work plan, ensuring work areas and equipment are clean and free of safety hazards and performing other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will be certified as a Survey Technician or have equivalent training and experience as a land surveyor with 6 months or more experience as a chain person. Well established math skills are needed. Previous GPS experience is required and experience with modern surveying instruments, AutoCad and mine design software would be beneficial. This position may be of interest to candidates who have exploration or surveying experience in the oilpatch. Equivalencies may be considered.This position works a 12 hour, 4X4 day shift rotation. Some overtime and working stand-by, weekends and holidays is required. The shift rotation may vary depending on operational or training requirements.
