Hay & Company Consultants is seeking an intermediate hydrotechnical engineer for a position in our Hydrology and Geomorphology group. The position is open in Vancouver, but placement in Nanaimo or Kelowna may be possible for a suitable candidate.
Hay & Company Consultants, a Division of EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd., provides engineering and scientific services in a wide range of hydrotechnical disciplines, including hydrology, geomorphology, oceanography, limnology, river and coastal engineering, slurry transport and pipeline engineering, and port and harbour engineering.
This position will entail hydrotechnical aspects of several types of project such as floodplain management, flood protection, erosion and scour prediction and protection, small hydropower development, water supply and stormwater management. The tools to conduct these analyses will range from standard methods to a range of standard and in-house software products. The successful applicant will be involved in all phases of projects: preparation of proposals; client liaison; site investigations; analysis and design, project management, quality management and preparation of final reports. He or she will be part of a dynamic team of engineers and scientists engaged in a wide range of water resources projects.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree or a Ph.D. in water resources or hydrotechnical engineering. He or she will have, or be eligible for, designation as a Professional Engineer in BC. Ideally, the candidate will also have at least eight years of experience subsequent to graduating. Good computer skills and excellent spoken and written English are essential for this position.
