POSITION DESCRIPTION
Continued growth at Hatch Ltd. has led to an excellent opportunity for a Business Director to work with our Technologies Business Practice at our Mississauga Corporate Head office. The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
-Managing the development and negotiation of commercial agreements, working with our lawyers, proposal managers, and technical experts.
-Maintaining client relations on commercial issues including negotiating contractual terms and conditions.
-Preparing and managing our business confidentiality agreements and technology license agreements (some of our products include a technology license with each contract).
-Assisting in the commercial management of major contracts and assisting project managers with the collection of major receivables.
-Assisting the Managing Director and business unit directors/managers in the development of their major project risk review processes (pre-bid).
-Providing commercial assistance to our engineers and project managers in the sourcing and administration of subcontractors and suppliers.
-Preparation of commercial proposals for our large engineering services and equipment design & supply proposals and assist or coach engineers in the smaller proposals for components and/ or consulting services that we also provide.
-Managing the preparation of pricing strategy for project and product sales proposals taking into account the competitive market, applicable legal and tax regime, and our own risk profiles.
-Assisting Managing Directors in the data collection, analysis and reporting of business unit performance.
In aggregate, the Business Director will be actively involved in Hatch's business development activities through proposals and negotiating and in support of our projects and overall business performance. This position reports to the business unit Managing Director and works with proposal/project managers on an 'as-needed' basis
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a university degree, at Bachelor or Master's level, in engineering and a minimum of 10 years experience in engineering, project management or commercial management. Completion of an MBA is preferred or suitable experience. Business development experience in the provision of engineering services or in the design & supply of industrial equipment is desirable. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, quick to deliver, a good communicator, by phone, f ace-to-face and in writing, able to produce professional analysis, reports and presentations. The attributes most sought after are self-management, professionalism in deliverables and with clients, team player, imagination, and a proactive outlook.
