POSITION DESCRIPTION
Hatch is seeking an intermediate to senior level Air Quality Dispersion Modelling Specialist. The individual is expected to work on a variety of projects relating to permitting and environmental assessment studies in Ontario and internationally. The individual will have the opportunity to work with the Hatch process and pollution control design team together to create innovative solutions to help our clients meeting the regulatory requirement and their environmental sustainability goals.
Other responsibilities could include:
-Performing emission estimates
-Preparation of applications for Certificates of Approval (Air)
-Preparation of environmental impact studies (Air quality)
-Reporting to National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and Ministry of the Environment (MOE) under Ontario Reg. 127
-Prepare technical reports, proposals and other communications
-Liaise with clients and regulators
-Ability to travel to site locations
-It is possible for the qualified candidate to discuss working at other Hatch's Southern Ontario offices such as Markham
QUALIFICATIONS
-5+ years of experience in technical air quality work.
-must have strong air quality modelling capabilities in AERMOD and have experience with completing emission summary and dispersion modelling report under the O.Reg 419/05 to support certificates of approval application.
-Knowledge of ISC and CALPUFF is considered an asset
-Post-secondary education in engineering (chemical, mechanical, environmental) or science (physics, chemistry or meteorology)
-Solid understanding of air quality theories and science, such as interactions of air quality with meteorology, plume rise and building downwash effects
-Knowledge of the requirement to or experience with completing an Air Quality Impact Assessment study to support the submission of Environmental Assessment studies
-Working knowledge of various air dispersion modeling programs in addition to AERMOD (e.g., Reg. 346, SCREEN 3, ISCPRIME, MOBILE Modeling CAL3QHC/CAL3)
-Able to work independently with minimal supervision
-Strong computer and analytical skills
-Related experience or familiarity with air quality projects with variety of industrial process in mining and energy industries
-Knowledge of air quality issues
-Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to air
-Eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO an asset
