The Canadian Foothills Clearwater Business Unit has an immediate opening for a Geological Technologist. As a member of the Prairie View team you will contribute to their reservoir characterization initiatives by providing basic data support and mapping.
EnCana’s Board of Directors recently approved a proposal to split EnCana into two highly focused energy companies: one a natural gas company with an outstanding portfolio of early life, North American, natural gas resource plays (currently with a working name of “GasCo”) and the other a fully integrated oil company with industry-leading in-situ oilsands properties and top-performing refineries, as well as an underlying foundation of reliable oil and gas resource plays (currently with a working name of “IOCo”). In the event this proposed corporate reorganization proceeds, it is anticipated that the position below will continue in GasCo.

Duties and Responsibilities
* provide reliable, high quality support to four geologists and three geophysicists
* download/import, manage and maintain the currency & quality of geological databases in Petra or Geographix Discovery (i.e. LAS well curves, surveys, coal and core data, tests, production, gas content data, user tops, and petrophysical data)
* pick formation log tops, utilize log cutoffs and assist in creating cross-sections and maps that characterize the reservoirs
* load seismic, well and culture data in SeisX
* base mapping and gridding in EarthVision
* ability to mentor other technologists and new graduate geophysicists/geologists in regards to common used mapping/data analysis software
Qualifications
* must be legally entitled to work in Canada
* minimum of 4 years experience in the duties described, working as a geological/geophysical technologist
* experienced with the data types, their import and quality checking
* familiar with well log types, picking formation tops
* experienced and competent in working with Petra, Geographix Discovery or GeoLog
* familiar with SeisX and related Paradigm software
* familiar with other geological apps such as Accumap, GeoScout, Arc GIS, and EarthVision
* knowledge of EnCana systems and processes is an asset (RTD Tracker, Wellview)
* strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
* well developed communication and interpersonal skills
