Talisman Energy is looking for a strong leader with the experience, expertise and desire to lead a diverse team of professionals. The Operations Engineering team is an integral part of an active and dynamic multi-disciplinary team focused on Talisman's core heritage oil property in Chauvin, Alberta This team shares responsibility for the tie in of new wells, and the safe and cost effective optimization of the Chauvin field.
The Chauvin field consists of conventional, low to medium gravity sour oil production with some associated gas conservation, and the associated facilities and infrastructure. The current production is over 11000 bopd with approximately 8 mmscfd gas from over 1100 pumping wells. The field is on waterflood, with approximately 250 water injection wells, injecting over 100,000 barrels/day water. The Team Leader will work closely and effectively with external stakeholders and other groups within Talisman including: Field Operations, Development, Exploration, Land, Facilities, Regulatory Affairs, Community Affairs, and Supply Management & Contracts. The Team Leader is expected to manage the engineering efforts and ensure that regulatory, technical, financial, schedule and other key performance goals are met.
The Chauvin field office is one of the three largest field offices in Talisman's North American operations.
The Team Leader must have a demonstrated commitment to safe production and Talisman's values of respect, excellence, bias for results, honest communication, teamwork and passion. You will be expected to perform the following activities:
Lead, coach and mentor a five person team of Operations Engineers and Technologists, providing both technical and business guidance
Assisting individuals with their career development through regular feedback sessions as well as performance reviews and evaluations
Provide leadership with regards to Talisman Energy's safety program and other initiatives
Play a key role in the District's Multi-Discipline Field Management Team
Develop annual production, loss control and lifting cost goals with Operations and develop strategy with the Area Engineering team to assist Operations achieve the targets
Set standards for the Area Engineering Team and ensure technical soundness
Conduct regular team and one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, review project status and provide direction and assistance, share technical knowledge
Assess and leverage the strengths of individuals to maximize team productivity and staff development
Continuously prioritize and track progress of engineering projects within the group and adjust workloads as required
Participate in weekly operations meetings with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure cooperation and sharing of key project objectives
Ensure timely and effective communications within the team and with other Talisman departments such as Development, Exploration, Land, Regulatory Compliance, Completions and Facilities & Construction
Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you are a professional engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience in the upstream oil and gas business and be eligible for or already registered with The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA). Experience should include team leadership, project management, design and construction of field facilities, pipelines, compressor stations and sour gas plants. Knowledge of energy and environmental regulatory requirements as applied to existing facilities and new construction is desirable. Time spent in the field is a requirement.
