REPORTING TO:
Team Lead, Client Services / Team Lead, Microsoft Infrastructure POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Software Packaging Analyst will be accountable for working in a Microsoft environment using best practices to deploy desktop/ end user computing software in adherence with Penn West policies and procedures.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include the following, but are not limited to:
- Software application packaging.
- Build new .MSI/.MST based packages using Wise Package Studio 7.0.
- Convert Wininstall .NAI format to .MSI based packages.
- Perform multiple QA tests against specific corporate standards.
- Coordinate / manage multiple packaging assignments.
- Issue resolution of client software configurations.
- Document processes, procedures, and technical issues; as needed.
- Provide backup for Wininstall/SMS/SCCM Administration.
- Liaise with vendor support teams to resolve questions, concerns, complaints in a timely manner.
- Work very closely with the Client Services group to ensure end user needs are met.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILL SET:
- 2+ years of desktop engineering / packaging experience and/or combination of equivalent experience and education.
- In-depth knowledge of Wininstall Packaging and/or Wise Package Studio 5.x, 7.0.
- Strong working knowledge of VBScripts and .MSI Custom Actions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in regards to the Registry and desktop based Security.
- Familiarity with many different packaging tools and utilities (Regmon, Filemon, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Wininstall and/or SMS 2003/SCCM 2007; package deployment and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to oil and gas software; an asset.
- Excellent multi tasking / time management skills.
