­­­­­­­­­­­­­­POSITION: Supply Management Co-op Student (2 positions)


LOCATION: Horizon Oil Sands Plant Site located 70km North of Fort McMurray, AB


DISCIPLINE: 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student currently enrolled in a recognized Supply Chain Management Program or a related field of study


TERM: 4, 8 or 12 month term beginning in January or May 2009


WORK SCHEDULE: 4 days on, 3 days off – 10 hour days




Reporting to the Manager, the Co-op Student provides support to the purchasing and contracts group at all phases of the sourcing cycle, including Request for Proposals (RFP)/ Request for Quotations (RFQ), Proposal Evaluations, Awards, Contract Administration and Expediting. Specific responsibilities include ensuring completeness of RFP/RFQ documents, recording proponent’s/ bidder’s communication during the RFP/RFQ stage, maintenance of communication and records during contract administration and close out.




Specific Accountabilities:


*General word processing of contract and purchasing documents


*Maintaining the commercial documents filing system


*Coordinating meetings and associated minutes


*Monitoring and achievement of milestones and critical dates


*Developing and issuing report and updates as required


*Providing co-ordination and organizational assistance to the contract management function


*Correspondence/coordination with contractors on routine matters


*Routine expediting of ordered materials/equipment


*Serving as the commercial group’s focal point for the application of JD Edwards software


*Considered a logical entry point to a Buyer or Contract Administrator role




Experience:


*Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office in particular: Outlook, Word, Excel,


*Familiarity the fundementals of buying, contract development and contract administration


*Familiarity with the laws of contracting




WHAT WE OFFER:

  • You will share a two bedroom condo with another student in the town of Fort McMurray (rent, internet, cable TV & telephone paid for by Canadian Natural)

  • Free transportation to the Horizon site via bus

  • Students will work in site-based office & field construction settings in all weather conditions



NOTE - To be eligible to work on the Horizon Site you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test consistent with our Alcohol and Drug Policy, acquire an Alberta Construction Safety Association CSTS card and complete a Horizon Site Safety Orientation. Must also hold a valid driver’s license (e.g. Alberta Class 5) and the successful candidate will be required to provide a Motor Vehicle driving record summary.
