Reporting to the Foreman, the Rod Buster will be responsible for cutting, fitting, and positioning all rods. Rod Busters will also be responsible for reinforcing concrete forms.
Key Responsibilities:
*Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work;
*Cut and fit wire mesh, or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete;
*Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment;
*Cut rods to requrie lengths, using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches;
*Bend steel rods with hand tools and rod-bending machines, and weld them with arc-welding equipment;
*Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod bending machines, blowtorches and hand tools;
*Space and fasten together rods in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliers;
*Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors;
*Select, cut, bend, position and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms to reinforce the concrete.
Educational Requirements:
Credentials/ Safety Requirements:CSTS and OSSA are both required safety certificates to be able to work on the Suncor site.

*Must be able to pass a pre-access drugand alcohol test;
*Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site;
