POSITION SUMMARY
Ledcor's Technical Division, ComSpan, is seeking an IT/IP Technician position available in our Roseburg Oregon office.The IP/IT Technician is responsible for maintaining and providing overall support of the existing network infrastructure and new implementations in a 24x7x365 production internet, voice and video network environment.The Roseburg business includes a traditional CLEC with voice and data services to residential and business customers. ComSpan also has a Triple Play (voice/data/video) service that is located on the Oregon coast about 60 miles west of Roseburg. The selected candidate will be involved in supporting this business in a backup capacity to the local support.


Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of best practices and procedures for networking, network design, general network security and assist with scheduled and emergency maintenance events.Additionally, you'll monitor and maintain the hardware and software for the network as well as research the development of new technologies that may impact the network and investigate, troubleshoot, isolate and document network related problems.Provide and champion project management and meeting attendance and providing Tier III support for internal and external customers while maintaining effective working relationships with managers and employees is key to the sucess of this position.The ideal candidate will possess the following will be able to perform the following: act as interface between Field Technician teams, other Operational teams, and the System Services team, review maintenance procedures (MOPS) for accuracy as provided, conduct internal reviews on maintenance procedures (MOPS), perform ongoing problem management efforts including reviewing reports and identifying operational trends, review and assess all Engineering provided workarounds and/or long term fixes, provide advanced support during change management and release management, provide advanced support during domain restoration efforts, provide advanced support towards capacity management efforts including periodic internal capacity reviews, review and assesses performance tuning recommendations from Engineering teams, leads operational staff in integration of such changes, perform periodic knowledge transfers with Operational staff, perform internal operational readiness on all planned efforts, participate in vendor reviews, participates in vendor management, act as a subject matter expert for all portions of the platform, act as an escalation point for the operational staff, perform technical assessment of all changes entering the group including formal project requests and service requests and conducts reviews with management, perform periodic audits for software versions control, administrate access to platform for operational staff, Engineering groups, and vendors, collaborate with Engineering teams in regular recurring reviews, periodically audit the platform to insure physical installation and configuration standards are maintained, provide documentation to support procedures, respond to any outage assigned to the NOC Systems Operations Group, perform advanced troubleshooting and problem isolation, maintain problem ownership and accountability, interact with support staff to resolve issues, update and Monitor the Tickets and perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements
You must have demonstrated ADVANCED LEVEL of understanding and proficiency on the following: IPTV video concepts, Video On-Demand delivery concept, Networking concepts, Windows and Linux OS, Server and router administration, Headend transport and RF concepts, System testing and troubleshooting, Motorola Receivers, Modulators and Transmitters, Channel launching, Satellite Receiver set up and authorization, Real Time Encoder set up and configuration.You must have demonstrated experience in the following: Motorola/Tut (IPTV Network Control System) administration, Support of MetaSwitch VoIP platform, Support of Cisco 7600 class routers, Supporting Harmonic/EntoneVideo On-Demand systems andsupport or experience with access platforms (PON) networksMinimum Job Requirements: College Degree or equivalent work related experience is required (8 years work experience), 5 years with Unix/Linux systems administration (Solaris/Redhat preferred), 3 years experience deploying and supporting servers in a production environment, 2 years with a scripting language such as python, perl, ruby, etc., 2 years of experience with varied networking concepts, Experience with troubleshooting routers and switches, Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, Experience supporting databases (Oracle/Informix preferred)Expectations: The ability to communicate professionally (orally and in writing) in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a positive working environment, Leads meetings as required, Ability to be a team player and a self-starter, Ability to maintain high level of customer satisfaction, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Excellent customer skills, Ability to perform analytical thinking and Awareness of the Industry.
