Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting and analytical responsibilities within Inter Pipeline Fund’s financial function.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
*Perform the monthly consolidation of Inter Pipeline’s results and prepare the monthly internal reporting package
*Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements and notes to financial statements
*Assist with research of new or amended accounting standards, including IFRS, to determine the application and impact on IPF and its subsidiaries (collectively “IPF”)
*Research and documentation of the appropriate accounting treatment for new IPF transactions or situations
*Liaise with UK finance manager where necessary to ensure new and one-time significant transactions are reflected appropriately
*Liaise with external auditors
*Ad-hoc internal reporting (management reports, queries, etc.) for all levels of staff throughout the Corporate office
*Learn IPF’s risk management policies and procedures to support the Senior Financial Accountant with the accounting and reporting of financial instruments
*Work with a focus to analyze financial results and recommend efficiencies, and provide superior financial analysis
*Ability to contribute beyond the financial function; has a good understanding of systems
*Dedicated to increasing the value of accounting information provided to management
Education, Skills and Experience:
*A professional accountant (CA, CMA or CGA designation) with a minimum of 5 years of applicable industry or public practice experience in a senior financial accounting or auditing role
*Working knowledge and experience in Canadian GAAP and external financial reporting
*Ability to evaluate complex business and accounting issues
*Provide contributions that go beyond the financial function; has a good understanding of systems
*Experience in dealing with complex contracts
*Prepared to work in a ‘hands-on’ fashion to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial and operating results
*Ability to manage internal and external relationships
*Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy
*Well-developed interpersonal, team, customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)
*Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
*Able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment
