Reporting to the Director, Tax and Finance, you will be responsible for tax compliance, tax provisions, and other responsibilities within Inter Pipeline Fund. This position is located in our Calgary office.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
*Ensure compliance by Inter Pipeline Fund to the Canadian Income Tax Act by following the appropriate procedures and practices. This includes, but is not limited to, the preparation and filing of the following tax documents with the appropriate authorities on a timely and accurate basis:
*Year end T5013 and Releve 15 tax information returns for Inter Pipeline and its limited partnership subsidiaries
*Posting the T5013 and Releve 15 tax information with CDS and Computershare to facilitate the preparation of tax slips for the unitholders
*Federal and provincial tax returns for Inter Pipeline’s corporate subsidiaries
*Federal and provincial trust returns for Inter Pipeline’s trust subsidiaries
*T1134 information forms for the foreign subsidiaries
*Surplus calculations for the foreign subsidiaries
*Assist the corporate development group by updating the income tax business development model on a regular basis
*Research and advise the Director, Tax and Finance with regard to tax planning strategies in the best interest of Inter Pipeline unitholders
*Liaise with external auditors and tax advisers
*Prepare required quarterly accounting entries for current and future income tax provisions
*Review GST filings for Inter Pipeline and its subsidiaries
*Maintain up to date records regarding Inter Pipeline’s adjusted cost base of its assets and liabilities
*Ad-hoc internal tax reporting (management reports, queries, etc.) for all levels of staff throughout Inter Pipeline Fund
*Work with a focus to analyze financial results for tax related reasonability, recommend efficiencies, and provide tax advice
*Thinking analytically to evaluate complex business and tax issues
*Ability to contribute beyond the tax function
Education, Skills and Experience:
*Preferably someone who has obtained their CA, CGA or CMA designation and has approximately 3 years of applicable experience in a tax advisory and compliance role
*Completed or enrolled in the CICA in depth tax course
*Experience in dealing with complex contracts
*Prepared to work in a ‘hands-on’ fashion to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of compliance documents
*Ability to manage internal and external relationships
*Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy
*Well-developed interpersonal, team, customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)
*Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
*Able to work well in a fast-paced, growth environment
*Advanced MS Office skills
*Maintain strong initiative and possess superior analytical skills
