POSITION SUMMARY

Function/Purpose:


This position is responsible for processing all aspects of Customer Service activities relating to Utilities and Accounts Receivable. Duties include working in a fast paced team environment and carrying out a high volume of daily transactions, processing the Billing Activities for Accounts Receivable and Utilities for approximately 35,000 customers per month, and understanding complex integrated software systems to generate billings and provide customer service




Note: This position may provide back up and continuity of service as assigned




Job Requirements:



  • Completion of a two year Business Administration Diploma with a major in accounting. (Equivalent to 3 years in a professional accounting program.)

  • 2 years experience in an integrated computerized environment, preferably performing Utilities/Accounts Receivable duties An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Utility theory/procedures and ability to apply legislation and policy to receivable business practices.

  • Previous experience with JD Edwards, Bellamy, Geoware or Utilities software in a municipal setting would be an asset

  • Ability to process a high volume of work with frequent interruptions and conflicting priorities, ensuring that essential tasks are completed within rigid deadlines

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy, and in accordance with policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel)

  • Ability to work in a team environment with considerable noise and interruptions

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information (FOIP training required)

  • Formal training in Violence In the Workplace, Dealing with Difficult Customers an asset as customers may become volatile

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week


* One of the positions is permanent full-time and the other position is a temporary full-time maternity coverage.
