SCOPE With vision and expertise, the Maintenance Manager will set the direction and provide leadership to the maintenance team ensuring a safe, responsible and cost effective operation. KEY AREAS OF CONTRIBUTION: Set clear and concise goals for the internal CNRL team which consists of: • Leads for the 2 Major business areas – Primary & Secondary Upgrading. • Engineers & Specialists (who report to the Area Leads) for all plants within the Upgrading facility. • Shutdown & Turnaround Planning. • Manage the relationship with Maintenance Contract firms. • Provide expertise and understanding of long range planning in relations to key resources required for success. • Manage the planning of maintenance work involved in but not limited to work management systems, prerequisite support work, employee tools, estimate of time and manpower.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Control & manage the maintenance budgets to ensure priorities are identified and work is completed in accordance with policies and procedure. • Drive maintenance strategies and best practices to provide cost effective equipment reliability. • Manage the predictive, preventive and routine repair programs and work processes. • Effectively manage the maintenance contractors and in-house specialists to provide optimal maintenance service delivery in the most cost efficient manner possible. • Full participation in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process – development, evaluation and selection process for items such as Services, Sustaining Capital & other Capital expenditures. • Manage the turnaround strategies to meet safety, schedule, cost and quality targets. • Manage the maintenance shop facilities and mobile equipment. • Recommend spare part strategies and procurement quality control programs. • Manage the development and implementation of maintenance procedures, training, equipment repair manuals, safety programs, and recruitment plans. • Responsible for target setting and performance management.
OTHER AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT: • Collaboration with the Maintenance Managers inside the Horizon Oil Sands. • Work closely with the Leadership Team in Upgrading to develop strategy & understand priorities in each of the following areas: Operations, Process Engineering, Process Development & Technical Services. • Contribute to the success of the Horizon Oil Sands with regular & clear communication to all areas including Mining, Bitumen Production, Utilities & Services. • Actively participate in tactical & strategic policy development on matters which impact the Horizon Project for such things as: Compensation, Employee Training & Development, Procurement, Safety, Environment & future expansion.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION: Education and Experience • 10 years maintenance management experience in an Oil refinery or Upgrading plant. • A degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but is not essential, alternate working experience will be considered. • Experience in managing Trades & 3rd Party Maintenance Service Providers is essential. • Project Management Skills. • Solid experience & confidence Control & manage the maintenance budgets to ensure priorities are identified and work is completed in accordance with policies and procedure. • Significant experience in controlling a multi-million dollar annual maintenance budgets. • Leadership and development of personnel
