POSITION SUMMARY
LTS is a leader in providing telecommunication support services across North America. We specialize in providing maintenance, engineering and emergency restoration support to major telecommunication carriers across the USA and Canada.


Responsibilities
LTS Group is currently seeking Technical Field Services personnel to fill an opening located in the New York, NY area. This position will perform Hot Hands technical support as well as installation support, test and commissioning of many various optical and electrical platforms. In this position you will perform repair, installation, configuration, MACD and testing on various Nortel, Fujitsu, Alcatel, and similar products to support customer optical and electrical, voice and data services. This includes alarming and ancillary equipment in support of larger systems. You will coordinate many activities on site including site surveys, cabling (electrical and optical), power, and equipment installation. You should be able to perform appropriate tests in most signaling platforms including small to medium sized PBX, DS-0 through DS-3, and OC-3 to DWDM. You should be familiar with Fiber Optic OTDR testing and splicing. You will repair and maintain customer equipment to insure optimal performance. This responsibility includes mostly restoration activities but also preventative maintenance and installation activities as well.


Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following: must have a clean driving record, be able to pass a drug test, and a background check, be able to work outside, all year around, be able to lift, carry, and handle an 80 pound, 28 foot, extension ladder, must NOT be afraid of heights (15 to 25 feet above ground), be able to effectively use hand tools and power tools, be able to work long hours, six days a week, on a regular basis, be a highly motivated person with an eye towards high production, be able to maintain quality assurance metrics, have strong organizational skills, have excellent written and oral communication skills, be computer literate (EXCEL, WORD, E-MAIL) and have prior customer service experience (a PLUS).


Work Conditions
In this position you will be assigned to many sites, routes and a large coverage area and will be asked to be available 24 hours, 7 days a week for extended periods in order to provide our customer emergency restoration service. However, normal workdays will consist of 8-10 hours per day, five days a week.As the successful candidate you have accreditation from a technical school in telecommunications or equivalent technical training, and/or 4 to 8 years of Telecommunications experience. You could hold a license or certificate in the operation and maintenance of Fujitsu, Nortel, Alcatel or equivalent, optical equipment, or are proficient in electronics. You have strong interpersonal skills and have facilities mentoring experience. You must have a good driving record and credit history, and be able to pass initial and random drug and alcohol tests. You should be computer literate and proficient in the Windows XP and MS Office environment.
