SCOPE The Operator, Power and Steam is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the Power and Steam plants. In this position the Operator will perform a variety of tasks to optimize and maintain the processes and the process equipment.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Learn the unit layout, purpose and operating parameters of the assigned systems. • Operate and monitor process equipment. • Assist in maintenance and repair of process equipment. • Troubleshoot and diagnose upsets and problems. • Rotate job positions as directed by the Shift Team Leader. • Utilize and further develop Training Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures. • Assist the Shift Team Leader to assess incidents. • Participate in Team Safety Meetings and follow up on assigned items.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Education & Experience: • Previous experience working in the Utilities area of a large plant. • Minimum Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate. • Experience in any of the following areas: Cogen Units, HP Boiler Plants, Steam Turbines or Electrical Distribution.
PERSONAL QUALITIES: • Be self-motivated with a desire to learn. • Good mechanical aptitude. • Able to produce high quality work with minimal supervisor.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT: • Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited. • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards. • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply. • Report any injury or illness immediately. • Report unsafe acts and conditions. • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
