SCOPE • We will offer training opportunities to candidates looking to start an exciting career within the Horizon Oil Sands - Upgrading operations. • There are excellent opportunities for advancement with the right attitude and work ethic. As a world class oil sands operations, this position will allow for the training and development that is necessary for career development and progression.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • The Process Technician will learn the necessary skills used to monitor, operate, adjust and maintain process equipment. • Become familiar with processes and equipment used in Upgrading Operations and may rotate between different processing units during shift cycles. • Participate in process start-ups, shut-downs and isolation's as well as preparing process units and equipment for routine maintenance. • Troubleshooting and problem solving in an operational environment. • Sample products, perform tests, record data and maintain a log of process conditions, changes and upsets. • Participate in safety audits and safety programs and maintain a safe work environment. • Learn and implement standard operating procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: • High School Diploma or GED required. • A college diploma in process operation or related subjects an asset. • Previous refinery, petro-chemical, sour gas plant or oil sands upgrading experience would be beneficial. • A desire to pursue a Power Engineering ticket is required. • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
PERSONAL QUALITIES: • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and develop a career in the oil sands. • Enjoy working independently and in a team atmosphere in demanding conditions. • Good conflict resolution skills. • Strong mechanical aptitude. • Exceptional problem solving skills coupled with proven analytical abilities enabling you to consider the details and complexities of issues, while driving for results. • Outstanding organization skills enabling you to prioritize work and address the schedule demands.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT: • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited. • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the province of Alberta and environmental standards. • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply. • Report any injury or illness immediately. • Report unsafe acts and conditions. • Ensure personal protective equipment is available and is worn where and when required.
