SCOPE
Under the direction of the Shift Team Leader, the Operator, Electrical is responsible for the operation of the High Voltage Electrical systems. This includes all electrical systems from 600V to 260Kv. The Operator, Electrical will also learn the EDMS System (Electrical Distribution Management System) and the Delta V DCS System.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Monitor electrical equipment in the Utilities and Services area using EDMS System (Electrical Distribution Management System) to ensure safe and efficient equipment and facility operation.
• The Operator, Electrical will work with the electrician on shift to energize and de-energize equipment for maintenance, prepare lockouts and issue permits.
• Learns and operates the Delta V DCS system.
• Perform routine field checks on substations.
• Follows standard safety procedures.
• Prepares isolation procedures.
• Utilize and further develop Training Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Participate in Team Safety Meetings and follow up on assigned items.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
• Experience with low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of large motors, starters and with isolating equipment.
• At least ten years experience in a Utility or Oil Sands Plant.
• 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate.
• Grade 12 Diploma.

• Able to produce high quality work with minimal supervisor.

• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards.
• Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply.
• Report any injury or illness immediately.
• Report unsafe acts and conditions.
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
