SCOPE: Canadian Natural has a unique opportunity for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer who thrives on the challenge and excitement of contributing to a new operation. The Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible for creating, supporting and delivering long term life of mine plans to all interdependent teams. Career progression within mine planning and across the project will be available to the engineer who possesses strength as a leader.
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION: Develop and communicate detailed mine and reclamation plans through collaboration with mine engineering, mine operations as well as upgrading and extraction engineers.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Involved in the development of monthly, quarterly and annual mine plans • Project costing as it relates to planning • Maintain a high level of communication within the mine operations, geotechnical and tailings areas • Reliability and efficiency modeling • Mine equipment productivity analysis Equipment specification and selection
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Education & Experience: • Engineering degree in Mining • 8-10 years planning experience in a an open pit mining facility • Registered or eligible for Professional Engineer Status in the province of Alberta.
Personal Qualities: • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas and recommendations based on thorough analysis • Analytically focused with a strategic approach to problem solving • Determined attitude with the ability to overcome challenges and setbacks • Utilizes collaboration with collogues of varying disciplines to foster a professional, positive and fun environment • Desire to guide and mentor less experienced engineers in a supportive manner
