POSITION SUMMARY

Scope:
As an integral part of Utilities and Services (U&S), the Lead Hand, Electrical will have the opportunity to be a part of a group that is accountable for the reliability and availability of all assets within the Business Unit. Acting as a prime source of valuable information and guidance, this position offers a challenge and level of accountability second to none.

Keys Areas of Contribution:
• Take on a role as a “go to” person for all electrical work in U&S
• Assist with the initialization of the U&S Maintenance Strategy along with associated PLC and VFD systems and equipment.


Key Accountabilities:
• Act as a key source of information and provide guidance to a team of Shift Technicians and Contractors;
• Plan, schedule and coordinate all electrical maintenance work for Utilities & Services;


Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure equipment reliability and efficiency to reduce process downtime;
• Provide programming and troubleshooting for all Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interface systems, and Protective Relaying and Control Systems in the U&S area;
• Review the work order back log to ensure that work is being completed;
• Provide parameter changes and be able to maintain spare parts for all types of Variable Frequency Drives in U&S;
• Repair, replace and maintain all Variable Frequency Drives for U&S;
• Provide expertise in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electric motors, motor starters and MCCs;
• Work within a team supported environment with Operations, Maintenance and Planning;
• Write procedures and processes to support the Maintenance Strategy and Safety plan;
• Involved in administering the isolation and lock out/tag out processes for 4160V and under; and
• Establish program and field maintenance for Electrical Heat Tracing.


Qualifications for the Position
Education, Certification and Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of trade-related industrial experience;
• Journeyman Electrician or a Certified Electrical Engineering Technologist;
• Instrumentation experience or training is an asset;
• Experience and training for programming and troubleshooting a wide variety of Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interface, Protective Relay systems and other industrial electrical equipment in heavy industry;
• Experience with JD Edwards or an equivalent CMMS system;
• Low, Medium and High Voltage Industrial Experience would be considered an asset;
• Experience with large and small horse power Variable Frequency Drives;

• Ensure personal protective equipment is available and is worn where and when required.
