Scope: In this dynamic coordination role our Lead Hand, Steam/Pipefitter is respected for the real life experience they bring to the team. Understanding the challenges of day to day maintenance, as well as shutdowns, and how significant proper planning and coordination is to a successful plant operation, the role will involve making sound decision to support the goals of the Utilities and Services Maintenance team.
Key Area of Contribution: • Assist with the initialization of the U&S Maintenance Strategy • Take on a role as the “go to” person for all piping work in U&S
Key Accountabilities: • Communicate equipment replacement activities to Planning & Procurement; • Coordinate work with piping maintenance contractors; and • Present innovative solutions regarding concerns for pipe integrity, equipment availability and wear materials.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure that all piping system maintenance activities in U&S support the business needs; • Review Spare Parts Lists and administering as required; • Assist in the development of the Mechanical Maintenance Plan in U&O, including Preventative Maintenance; • Assist in the development of maintenance and planning procedures for piping activities in U&S; • Aid in developing key performance indicators for all piping work activities; • Work with Operations to ensure piping maintenance functions are in sync with operations requirements; • Interface with other Maintenance Leads, Lead Hands, Planning Groups, Engineering Support and Contractors to ensure timely co-ordination of maintenance activities and development of ongoing improvements; • Interface with Planning Team Leader and Materials Management to make sure parts and repairable items are in the Warehouse and ready for use; and • Work with Planning Teams to track work orders/ requests and follow up on repairs.
Qualifications for the Position: Education, Certification and Experience: • A Journeyman Trade Certificate in Steamfitting and Pipefitting; • Strong knowledge of Piping Systems in a traditional Utilities environment; • 10+ years of experience in heavy industry, preferably in oil sands; • 5+ years of supervisory experience is required; and • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system would be a definite asset.
Personal Qualities: • Confidently diagnose and resolve an equipment failure or mechanical issue; • Take pride in producing high quality work with very little guidance; • Successful at working in a team to develop and implement maintenance programs; and • Exceptional communication skills aid you in coordinating teams towards a common end result.
Health, Safety and Environment: • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited; • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the province of Alberta and environmental standards; • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply; • Report any injury or illness immediately; • Report unsafe acts and conditions; and • Ensure personal protective equipment is available and is worn where and when required.
