POSITION SUMMARY

SCOPE:


In the role of Engineer, Rotating Equipment, one will be fully responsible for the integrity of all rotating equipment on the Horizon Site. This technical “Go To” role will provide expertise and guidance ensuring the plant is productive and successful.


KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
• Coordinate the work between Engineering contractors and Maintenance contractors; and
• Monitor rotating equipment conditions, troubleshoot and work closely with all parties involved to problem solve.


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The development and review/maintenance of all engineering standards and specifications relating to rotating equipment for the Horizon site;
• Assess the plant design to identify performance and maintenance issues and provide solutions;
• Inspect the rotating equipment/machinery for spare part and tool requirements;
• Review and coordinate the inspection and maintenance of all rotating equipment;
• Develop maintenance procedures and a plan for the major repairs of equipment in the delayed Coker, hydrotreater, sulphur recovery and hydrogen units;
• Coordinate the maintenance activities between various contractors and CNRL departments to ensure safe, quality and cost effective maintenance work is completed on time and on schedule;
• Provide direction and design review for all rotating equipment;
• Provide technical support in selection of materials and prescribing specifications for repairs, redesign and alternations of rotating equipment installations


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• A degree in Engineering or a certified Engineering Technologist with provincial registration or
eligibility for registration,
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry, with a portion of that in an operating facility
• Previous experience working with vendor warranty programs
• Preferred candidates will have experience with rotating equipment integrity management programs or reliability improvement programs
• Solid, mechanical knowledge of pumps, rotors, treads, etc.
• Previous experience with condition monitoring of rotating equipment will be an advantage
• Solid knowledge of and experience with, preventative maintenance programs
• Prior experience with engineering specifications & standards API 610/686 (or similar) an asset


Personal Qualities:
• Confidently diagnose and resolve an equipment failure or mechanical issue;
• Take pride in producing high quality work with very little guidance;
• Successful at working in a team to develop and implement maintenance programs; and
• Exceptional communication skills aid you in coordinating teams towards a common end result.

• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
• Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
• Report any injury or illness immediately;
• Report unsafe acts and conditions;
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
