POSITION SUMMARY

SCOPE:


The Regulatory Coordinator will support our Mining group in preparing applications and ensuring timely regulatory approvals for routine site activities within the mine. This role requires an understanding of the regulatory process in order to advise coworkers and consultants. Through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with stakeholders, regulators and employees, the Coordinator will facilitate Horizon Site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:


• Maintain up to date knowledge of regulations and regulatory process pertinent to completing applications such as:
Mine Planning and Operations
Drilling Licenses
Waste and disposal sites/wells
Site Clearing and Grading
Roads
Bridges
Dams
Minor Water Diversions
• As part of a multidisciplinary team, advise on all regulatory processes for application by mine engineering or related environmental initiatives
• Develop and coordinate programs to ensure compliance with regulatory approval conditions


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Schedule and coordinate the preparation of multiple, concurrent routine regulatory applications having regard for the timing needs of the Horizon mine engineering department
• Assist in managing consultants/contractors hired to prepare applications
• Manage and assist in interdepartmental regulatory issues that affect mine engineering
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with appropriate regulators and facilitate effective communication on behalf of the Mine Engineering team
• Participate in stakeholder consultation, where appropriate, to meet regulatory requirements
• Coordinate site evaluations and prepare reports to comply with regulatory approvals or regulations
Participate in Industry or Regulatory forums, where appropriate, to remain current and provide Horizon representation


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• A Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related Sciences
• 5 or more years of regulatory experience related to Oil Sands, Oil and Gas or Utilities
• Proven abilities in the areas of: Project Leadership, Negotiation, Report Writing and Stakeholder Consultation
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs
• Working knowledge of Alberta regulations, regulatory processes and technical aspects of Oil Sands

• Effective written and verbal communication with the ability to persuade
• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
• Comfortable and adaptable to a changing work environment

Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
Report any injury or illness immediately;
Report unsafe acts and conditions;
Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
