POSITION SUMMARY

Preferred Experience:





  • A sound working knowledge of process and systems for a wide range of macro and micro projects in the oil and gas sector,

  • A proven track record in process and systems, implementation and monitoring of support systems in an engineering environment, and successful management, planning, scheduling, and coordinating of a multi task engineering group,

  • A proven track record as a client-driven, entrepreneurial service provider, including a sound knowledge of engineering practices,

  • A proven track record in people management and coaching in a multi-disciplinary teamwork environment, including assessment and selection, two-way communications, performance management and feedback, human resource and management development, and win-win problem solving, and leadership by personal example, and

  • A sound knowledge of the EPCM client base and industry.

Job Purpose:





  • To oversee and review work activities of all process engineers, ensure deliverables quality, do performance reviews, assign and distribute personnel to projects and be technically accountable for all projects deliverables in the Company's Process Department. To provide proactively process support and counseling capabilities to other engineers to avoid delays or quality issues in projects.



General Duties, Responsibilities, & Critical Outcomes





  • Supervise a group of approximately 10 professional and non-professional people performing a variety of tasks in the Process and Systems Engineering disciplines,

  • Plan detailed methods of solving assigned problems,

  • Delegate components to engineers and designers,

  • Ensure that schedules are met and to coordinate assignments with other disciplines,

  • Prepare design notes, calculations, drawings, specifications, and data books,

  • Provide technical direction to purchasing and construction in support of the project installation activities,

  • Become familiar with and involved in the implementation of the corporate QA plan,

  • Liaise directly with the client and act as a company representative on projects,

  • Hire, train, and maintain capable personnel dedicated to highly accurate technical deliverables,

  • Mentor junior engineers in process and systems design practices,

  • Effectively apply the organization’s management processes and practices,

  • Utilize resources effectively,

  • Run process simulation programs including HYSIM and Pipeflo,

  • Evaluate alternate processes and determine the optimum process for each application,

  • Size process, mechanical, and utility equipment,

  • Instruct engineers, designers, draftspersons, and secretaries in the preparation of process technical documents and drawings,

  • Verify, correct, modify, and authorize process technical documents and drawings,

  • Implement training of company personnel to effectively use approved procedures and methods,

  • Prepare process calculations for the design of facilities for the detailed design of a facility,

  • Discuss applications with vendors,

  • Prepare engineering man-hour and discipline cost estimates,

  • Market company expertise for process facilities design,

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals,

  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial relations with other departments and project personnel,

  • Network with professional associations and leading edge institutions in order to monitor trends and developments and in order to find the best possible staff,

  • Maintain a dedicated, focused staff with superior expertise to meet current and future needs of our clients,

  • Serve as a sounding board and coaching staff, individually and collectively to achieve consistently superior results,

  • Ensure all staff respect the personnel polices of Tri Ocean and that supervisors receive training to implement them properly,

  • Ensure the effective use of our people management system (recruiting and selection; training and development; salary, compensation, and group benefits; performance management and continuous improvement; and safety in the work place) to assist and guide all staff,

  • Create and maintain a productive and healthy work environment, and good equipment that functions reliably,

  • Consistently set a personal example in leadership, customer relations and standards,

  • Develop and use accurate, relevant financial information for decision making,

  • Seek and apply win-win problem solving approaches to problem resolution,

  • Ensure project milestones are being executed in the proper concurrent sequence,
