POSITION SUMMARY

SCOPE:


As one of the world’s premier Oil Sands Companies, Horizon Oil Sands is looking for a Piping Engineer at the senior level who will have the opportunity to independently handle major piping projects. Your previous experience in piping design and stress analysis paired with your leadership skills will be vital to this position when decisions must be made. KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:


• Our self motivated and experienced Piping Engineer will be providing the key support and accountability for developing innovative solutions to unique and challenging piping problems.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


• Deliver completed engineering designs and specifications based on National and International codes and standards including ASME, ANSI, API and more specifically ABSA
• Take ownership of all matters related to piping, support structures, stress analysis and testing requirements
• Give advice, recommendations and leadership to resolve piping issues


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Perform inspections and troubleshoot piping problems
• Generate Technical and Business Case recommendations and evaluations including cost estimates
• Perform piping design and specification including pipe stress analysis and supports
• Liaise with other engineering disciplines, designers, procurement specialists and vendors
• Develop Construction Work Packages that include Scope of Work Specifications containing equipment data sheets; general arrangement layouts; isometrics and Bill of Material covering piping, insulation, heat tracing, welding and all testing requirements
• Oversee the quality of engineering documentation including APEGGA stamping requirements


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education, Certification & Experience:


• Minimum of 15 – 25 years of experience directly related to piping and preferably in the Oil, Gas or Power Industry
• An undergraduate Degree in Engineering
• Sound knowledge of understanding process P&ID’s and civil and structural drawings
• Valid Professional Engineer designation in Alberta is required
• Sound knowledge of International Codes and Standards is necessary
• Previous experience with Piping Stress Analysis Software such as CAESAR II or other flexibility analysis software is needed
• Knowledge of AUTOCAD would be an asset in this position

• Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
• Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
• Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
• Report any injury or illness immediately;
• Report unsafe acts and conditions;
• Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
