SCOPE: The Process Engineer for the Utilities area will provide engineering support within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment for the design, and day to day operations for various on-site systems. On site systems include: • Steam generation and distribution • Power generation • Boiler feed water treatment and distribution • Condensate collection and treatment system • Natural Gas and Refinery fuel gas system • Cooling water
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION: • Manage the on- site Utilities programs • Provide Engineering support for ongoing modifications and reliability program. • Provide simulations and process calculations support to ongoing operations • Ensure all regulatory standards are met.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: • The Process Engineer – Utilities Systems will also work with other Engineers in areas such as Bitumen Production and Upgrading to ensure the successful coordination of interfaces between these areas.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Monitor and integrate site wide steam, power, natural gas, refinery fuel gas, cooling water distribution and other utilities. • Develop mass and energy balances for various cases of operation. • Provide engineering design support for PFD and P&ID development, equipment specification development, process calculations for various modification schemes to support existing operation. • Conduct various simulations and calculations for troubleshooting to support ongoing operations. • Provide regulatory support.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Education & Experience: • As our ideal candidate, you have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in engineering in large utilities plant, Oil sands plants or Refinery /Petrochemicals Plant. • Experience with steam generation, BFW treatment, power generation, cooling water distribution, Natural and Refinery fuel gas systems in a large scale operating facility is necessary. • An engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Registration or eligibility for registration, as a Professional engineer in Alberta is required.
