Function/Purpose: The Environmental Planning Engineer is responsible for the preparation, administration and completion of maintenance plans/capital projects and their associated budgets for the various sections of the Environmental Services (Water, Wastewater, Waste Management, and Construction & Maintenance). The Engineer will also be responsible for providing input into approvals/master plans for the various sections.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor of Science Civil or Environmental Engineering
· Professional Engineer registered with Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta
- Four years experience in the management (design/construction/project management) of infrastructure maintenance projects related to: Water treatment plant, Wastewater treatment plant, waste management facilities, potable water distribution systems and non potable water collection systems.
- Experience in plant operations, maintenance operations and landfill operations preferred.
**In addition to the 9 Core Competencies identified for all employees of the City of Red Deer – the following are specific to this position:
· Previous experience in master planning and approval document preparation
· Broad knowledge of construction methods and practices
· Extensive waste management, water treatment and wastewater treatment process knowledge
· Self –motivated / self-disciplined
