SCOPE: Under the general direction of High Voltage Electrical Team Lead, U&S the incumbent is a key resource directly supporting maintenance and operations in high voltage transmission and distribution substations throughout the Horizon Project.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintenance repair and replacement of high voltage substation equipment • Maintain and repair high voltage equipment on overhead and underground 34.5 Kv distribution (power transformers, distribution transformers, disconnect switches, power distribution centres, fuses, lighting and emergency generators) • Operation and switching of high voltage equipment 260/72/34.5/13.8 Kv • Oil and gas sampling analysis • Protective relay, metering testing and calibration • Equipment thermo scanning • Operation of electrical distribution management system • Equipment and system grounding • Equipment isolation, switching and voltage measurement • Cable testing and repair • Utilization of various electrical testing equipment • Provide technical assistance to operations • Effectively identify, evaluate and mitigate all hazards associated with working on or around electrical equipment
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Education & Experience: • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent • Electrical Engineering Technologist, Power System Electrician Certificate or Electrical Journeyman Certificate • Experience in trouble shooting and problem solving of in-service high voltage equipment • Well versed with computers systems and software required in the testing and calibration of high voltage equipment and control systems • Experience using various formats for electrical drawings and documentation associated with high voltage systems • Experience in the use of aerial equipment • Skilled in the use of various test equipment utilized for testing TTR, Insulation Resistance AC and DC, Primary and Secondary Injection, Multimeter, Protective Relay Test Equipment, Dissipation Factor, DC Hipot, VLF, Oil insulation tester, Cable testing, Gas testing, Disturbance analyzers and transient recorders • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Personal Qualities: • The ability to work independently within a dynamic work environment is essential • Well developed communications, organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary
