Function/Purpose:
The Culture Services section is looking for an Administrative Assistant who can provide administration, coordination and clerical support to the Superintendent, Supervisors, Coordinators and RPC staff. The ideal candidate will provide friendly reception and superior customer service, both internally and externally for the Department.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma supplemented by one year office administration training or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in an administrative position that included public contact and customer service.
- Developed skill in formatting documents and preparation of presentation materials.
- Developed ability in utilizing common business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and desktop publishing. Knowledge of Publisher, JD Edwards, Engineering Plan Management software, GIS systems, and HR software would be an asset.)
- Ability to type 50 wpm.
- Completion of Standard First Aid

- Demonstrated ability to accurately produce type and assemble material from notes, handwritten information and conversations to a professional quality document.
- Ability to acquire and retain knowledge of the Recreation, Parks and Culture Department policies and procedures and keep informed of current City issues.
- Must be prepared to continue the learning process and show an aptitude to personally enhance skills with respect to technology.
Specific Demands of the Job
- Work is performed in a fast-paced environment often with many interruptions.
- Knowledge and understanding of the specific section activities within the Recreation, Parks and Culture Department.
- Expectation to use independent judgement in a collaborative environment and to apply precedent, policies and procedures to varying circumstances in the performance of duties.
